I could eat guacamole on its own, by the bucket. It’s packed full of flavour, healthiness and ease. Perfect.
This recipe is very straightforward to prepare, taking only minutes, and goes well with numerous dishes.
Guacamole recipe
Ingredients
4 ripe (ie soft) avocados, skin and seed discarded
½ onion (red or white), finely chopped
2 tomatoes, finely chopped
1 lime, juiced
large handful of fresh coriander/cilantro, finely chopped
1 tsp chilli powder (eg cayenne, chipotle or other. Add more if you can handle it spicy)
pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
Add each of the ingredients to a bowl and mix together using your (clean) hands. If you like chunky guacamole, that’s it!
If you prefer it smooth, use a hand blender or a food processor to mash the ingredients together.
Serve immediately or, even better, try refrigerating it before eating (if there’s time). It keeps in the fridge for a few days.
Notes
Guacamole is perfect for experimentation.
My recipe reflects my love of big flavours. It can be toned down – maybe with less onion or tomato – or made spicier with fresh chillies. There are millions of other delicious ways to make guacamole, including just mixing avocados with salt. I’d love to hear suggestions!
